Browlift (or forehead lift) surgery is a relatively simple procedure that can dramatically rejuvenate the upper face. It can make your eyes appear larger. It can help you look fresher and younger.
A brow lift may be an excellent choice for you if you have:
- Excess or sagging skin under your eyebrows
- Creases on your forehead that are visible when you are not tired, sad, or angry
- Frown lines between your eyes
- Eyebrows that are uneven, low, or not arched
- Furrows across the bridge of your nose
Most patients for a brow lift procedure are between the ages of 40 and 60 years. But if genetics have created deep lines on your forehead at a younger age, you can benefit from the surgery. Your Consultation
Consultation for a brow (forehead) lift includes a thorough discussion of your desires, expectations, and concerns. Your plastic surgeon also will discuss limits and risks of the surgery. He or she will review your medical history and recommend options that would be suitable for you. The doctor also will carefully examine your face, eyes, and forehead and take pictures of the areas to be corrected. To create a completely rejuvenated look, you may combine a brow lift with a neck lift, facelift, and eyelid lift.
The Procedure
The Plastic Surgery Center at Summit Medical Group performs a state-of-the-art, precise procedure called endoscopic brow lift surgery. Tiny incisions are made behind the hairline, and the endoscope is inserted through the incisions to magnify the tissue that will be lifted and tightened. Surgery may be performed in our ambulatory surgery center, depending on the equipment required. The surgery typically lasts only 1 hour, during which you will be asleep under general anesthesia. You can go home the same day, but you will need someone to drive you.
Recovery and Results
You will be given thorough written instructions to prepare for and recover from your surgery.
In most cases, patients are discharged with a head dressing. Sutures are usually removed in our office 7 to 10 days after your procedure. Most patients report only minor discomfort, but your doctor can prescribe pain medication if necessary. You can expect some bruising and swelling for about 2 weeks. Most patients can return to work about 10 days after surgery, with only some restrictions in activities.
You will be able to see results from your brow lift immediately, but the tissues will continue to relax and settle into their final position. After several months, you will be able to enjoy your final results. The gradual healing process makes it more difficult for others to notice you have had cosmetic surgery. Your brow lift will not interfere with your normal facial expressions or eyebrow movement.
