Lower Body and Buttock Lift
Lower Body Lift and Buttock Lift New Jersey
Aging, heredity, and weight loss can cause the skin on the abdomen, waist, back, buttocks, and thighs to sag. If you have lost a significant amount of weight, you may have folds of skin that chafe and are unattractive. Even if you have lost a modest amount of weight, you may have some sagging skin in your buttocks, hips, and thighs.
One of the most dramatic and fastest-growing plastic surgery procedures is a combination lower body lift and buttock lift to sculpt the stomach, remove love handles, and contour the waist, hips, thighs, and buttocks. To create polished, balanced results, you may want to have a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and/or liposuction during your lower body lift and buttock lift.
The best candidates for lower body and buttock lift are men and women who are in relatively good shape except for loose skin or excess fat on the lower body that cannot be corrected with exercise and dieting.
Your Consultation
Your consultation for lower body and buttock lift will include a thorough discussion of your desires, expectations, and concerns as well as limits and risks of the surgery. Your surgeon will take pictures of and carefully examine your abdomen, thighs, hips, and buttocks. He or she will review your medical history and recommend the best options to achieve the results you want.
The Procedure
Lower body lift and buttock lift surgery is performed under a general anesthetic. Most patients spend at least 1 night in the hospital. The procedure generally lasts 4 to 5 hours.
During a lower body lift and buttock lift, your surgeon will make an incision around the belt line of your waist, across your lower abdomen, and down your inner thighs. Excess fat and skin will be removed, and your body will be sculpted through lifting, tightening, and shaping the skin, removing fat, and smoothing the overlying skin.
Recovery and Results
You will be given thorough written instructions to help you prepare for and recover from your surgery.
You can expect bruising, swelling, and some pain following surgery, but you can take oral prescription medications to manage any discomfort. You will probably need several drain tubes for a few days to prevent fluid from collecting around the incisions. You may only need light dressings, or you may require compression garments that apply pressure to the incisions and prevent excessive swelling. These garments also help your skin to adjust to its new contours.
Within a week, you should be able to return to most of your activities, including work, as long as your job is not strenuous. Within 2 weeks, you can resume most all of your previous activities.
Although scars from the procedure are long, they usually fade somewhat over time. You also can have a laser scar revision procedure to further reduce the appearance of your scars.
