A consultation for genital labial reduction includes a thorough discussion of your desires, expectations, and concerns as well as limits and risks of surgery. Your surgeon will review your medical history and make recommendations based on your needs and goals.

While an examination of your genitals and photographs are necessary, the exam is conducted with the utmost sensitivity for your privacy and descretion. Some patients have given permission to show new patients their before and after photos. You may review them during your consultation.
The Procedure
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that is usually performed under local anesthesia. The surgeon will remove the excess portion of the labia and ensure that both sides match as closely as possible. Dissolvable stitches can often be used.
Recovery and Results
You will receive thorough written instructions to prepare for and recover from your procedure. The instructions will include ways to help prevent infection and when to follow up with your surgeon.
Most women describe an easy recovery, with only minor discomfort for a week or 2 after the procedure. Discomfort can be managed with oral over-the-counter medications if necessary. Scars are usually not visible.
