You’ve probably heard that a tummy tuck is a good way to improve the look of your abdomen after childbirth and/or weight loss.
The goal of tummy tuck surgery is to remove excess fat and skin along the lower front of the torso that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise. Muscles in the abdomen often weaken and separate over time and as a result of weight gain, creating an unattractive abdominal pouch that cannot be corrected with diet and exercise.
If you would like a smoother, more youthful abdomen, tummy tuck surgery might be right for you!
Important Facts About Tummy Tuck Surgery
Our New Jersey plastic surgeons, Peter Hyans, MD, and Reza Momeni, MD, want you to know that:
- Of the 7 in 10 women who want cosmetic surgery, many rank tummy tuck as the procedure they want most
- Many patients suggest the tummy tuck procedure greatly improves their self esteem, makes them feel more comfortable overall, and changes their lives for the better
- Cosmetic abdominal procedures (abdominoplasty) include the mini tummy tuck, which involves removing only a small amount of tissue and skin as well as major abdominoplasty, in which the entire abdomen and underlying muscles are tightened
If you want a sleeker, more youthful shape, consider having a tummy tuck!
Who Gets Tummy Tucks?
Many people who want a tummy tuck are fit, but cannot flatten their stomachs through diet and exercise. In addition, women who cannot regain a flat stomach after pregnancy are good candidates for a tummy tuck.
The tummy tuck is perfect for people who:
- Are not going to have any more children and want to regain their prepregnancy shape
- Have an abdominal pouch that does not respond to diet and exercise
- Have abdominal muscles that are weak and have separated as a result of age or surgery, including cesarean sections
- Have lost a significant amount of weight and have excess skin on the abdomen
To qualify for a tummy tuck, you should be reasonably fit, maintaining a stable weight, and in overall good health. Candidates for a tummy tuck should not smoke.
“It’s important to have realistic expectations about the results of your abdominoplasty,” says Dr. Hyans. “Still, patients are usually delighted with their results!”
During your consultation, your New Jersey plastic surgeon will discuss your goals, risks and benefits of the procedure, and tell you what you can expect. He or she also will answer all your questions and explain what you must do to recover from your surgery.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the United States. It can freshen the look of droopy eyelids that some men and women experience as young as age 30. Blepharoplasty in New Jersey involves the removal of excess skin that weighs down the eyelids, causing a tired, older appearance.
New Jersey residents can benefit from the highly skilled services for cosmetic improvement, including but not limited to eyelid surgery, face and neck lift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and liposuction. Ask your New Jersey plastic surgeon about the wide range of cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical options that can help you look and feel your best this year!
What is blepharoplasty?
During blepharoplasty, your New Jersey plastic will make an incision along the natural folds of your upper eyelids and/or below the lashline of the lower eyelids to remove excess fat and skin so that your eyelids appear younger and fresher. In some cases, the tissues may be repositioned to create a natural outcome.
In some cases, a different technique called a transconjunctival blepharoplasty may be used. This involves having an incision on the inside area of the lower lid instead of on the outside. The approach is excellent for preventing the appearance of an external scar, but it will not allow your plastic surgeon to remove excess skin.
Blepharoplasty also is known as eyelid surgery. It can be performed as a cosmetic and corrective procedure, depending on your needs.
How can eyelid surgery change the way I look?
As people age, fluid and fat accumulates around the eye area. The muscles around the eyes also begin to lose elasticity. As a result, the skin around your eyes can sag and droop, making you look older and tired. Blepharoplasty New Jersey is an eyelid lift. It eliminates the sagging and puffiness around your eyes for a fresher, younger, and natural look. The simple procedure can make some people look as much as 10 years younger!
What can I expect from blepharoplasty?
New Jersey cosmetic surgeons usually complete the eyelid lift procedure in 1 to 3 hours under local anesthesia. You will be able to go home after your surgery. Your doctor will tell you how to care for your incisions so that you heal properly and quickly. if you need pain medication, your doctor can prescribe something so that you are comfortable the first few days after your surgery.
